The Primary Montessori Day School is a private, non-sectarian, co-educational school for children age two (2) through nine (9) years old (Age 2 – Grade 3). It is a non-profit corporation, founded in 1998 on the premise that our schools are best in the hands of experienced educators. Thirty-four years of teaching the Montessori curriculum provide an extensive practical foundation for meeting the needs of young children and their parents. The school is approved by the Maryland State Board of Education and is an accredited member of the American Montessori Society (AMS).
What It Means To Be AMS & NCPSA Accredited
Our students are our priority—today and tomorrow. To keep our school on track to creating success for every student, we regularly seek AMS & NCPSA accreditation. This process includes:
- Rigorous Self-Study
Our staff and teachers voluntarily complete a self evaluation, including thorough documentation about every aspect of our school and teaching methods - On-site Evaluation
An approved AMS educator visits the school to verify the findings of our self-study and offer additional recommendations. - Create an Action Plan for Further Development
We create a strategic plan with timelines and resource allocations, committing to continually improve the education our school provides to its students and families. - Granted AMS Accreditation
Once the self-study, evaluation and plan confirms the schools quality meets the high standards of AMS & NCPSA, we are granted accreditation with the expectation of regular progress reports and participation in networking with other quality schools. - Continuous Evaluation
AMS submits an annual report to show on-going compliance with AMS standards and the implementation status of our Action Plan.
